Jackson W. Wiseman

Jackson W. 'Jack' Wiseman, Sr., was born Friday, July 27, 1928, in Sugar Creek Township of Miami County, Kansas, the son of James Sylvester and Eunice Edna (Jackson) Wiseman. He grew up in Wellsville, later moving to Vinland, both in Kansas. In 1978, Jack moved to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas, where he made his home until his death Friday, June 3, 2005, at the age of seventy-six years. Jack attended rural Wellsville and Miami County schools. He enjoyed his lifelong dairy farming. He also worked several years for Bob Caylor Construction and Tom Weigand Farms. Jack was on the Board of Directors of the Milk Producers Marketing, who owned and operated as All Star Dairy. He was on the Vinland School Board and a member of the board of Rural Water District #4. He loved animals and especially enjoyed the companionship of his Miniature Pinscher, 'Princess'. He enjoyed watching bull riding and K.U. basketball. Mr. Wiseman was an expert in woodworking and spent many hours building various kinds of furniture, including picnic tables and 'lots' of dollhouses. His greatest enjoyment, however, came from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he dearly loved. On May 31, 1947, Jack was united in marriage with Talitha Stevens. They later divorced. On May 11, 1979, Jack was united in marriage with Marian Davis at Lawrence, Kansas. She survives of their home. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Steven Patrick and Janey Wiseman of Baldwin City, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Linda Wiseman of Vinland, Kansas; two stepdaughters, Linda Easum of Lawrence, Kansas, Donna Davis of Oskaloosa, Kansas; stepson, Ron Davis and his wife, Barbara, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; sister, Frances Phillips of Paola, Kansas; six grandchildren; five step grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nine step-great grandchildren. Mr. Wiseman is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jackson Wiseman, Jr.; and two brothers, Wallace and Max Wiseman. SERVICES: Graveside funeral services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence, Kansas at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2005. IN STATE: Mr. Wiseman will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m. Monday and 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday where the family will meet with friends 7:00 to 8:00 Tuesday evening. CEMETERY: Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence, Kansas.
