Jackie Lee “Jack” Hutchinson, 88, of Rantoul, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, April 22, 2022, at the mortuary. Interment Ruhamah Cemetery, Rantoul, with a meal immediately following at Rantoul Community Center. Jack was born September 15, 1933, on a farm east of Strawn, Kansas. He was the son of Samuel and Marion (Baxter) Hutchinson. He attended grade school at Swamp College and then at Strawn Grade School and graduated from Strawn Rural High School with the class of 1951. On July 8, 1956, Jack was united in marriage with Patricia M. Ross at Burlington, Kansas. She survives of their home. Jack was a very hard worker and between various places of employment was always found helping his dad on the family farm. He worked for Likes Plumbing of Burlington, Kansas, installing water lines on the Turnpike to Belle Plaine, Kansas and ending at Matfield Green Service Area. In 1958, he went to work for Beech Aircraft at Wichita, Kansas. In 1960, he worked for Phillips 66 in service stations until 1963. Then he moved to Rantoul, Kansas and worked for his dad at the Hutchinson Grain and Lumber Company until 1983. Then he went to work at Ottawa University as weekend Security Guard from 1984 until 1990. In 1994, he went to work at Central Heights 288 in the maintenance department from 1984 until retiring in 1999. Jack worked for Rantoul City as treasurer from 1995, until retiring in 2013. He owned a school bus, driving to Rantoul Grade School, Princeton, and Central Heights USD 288, from 1964, until retiring for the last time in 2006. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Marion Hutchinson and daughter, Sonia Lynn Hutchinson. He is survived by his sons, Daniel Hutchinson and wife Kelly and Christopher Hutchinson and wife Lynn; grandchildren, Sean Hutchinson, Chelsea Hutchinson-Slocum and husband Josh, Amanda Hutchinson-Cates and husband Daniel, Kevin Hutchinson and wife Kelly, Amy Trumbull, Jonathan White, and Phoebe Hutchinson; great grandchildren, Cruze Duran, Christin Duran, Brock Hutchinson, Wyatt Hutchinson, Cayden Hutchinson, JJ White, Johnie Riddle, Sonia Sue Cates, Emma Jayne Hutchinson, Layton Hutchinson, Abigail Loise Slocum, and Donnie Cates; brother, Marvin Hutchinson and wife Linda; and nephews, Brian Hutchinson and Scott Hutchinson.
