Jackie Jean Fink

August 19, 1927 — January 22, 2005

Due to employment, it was necessary for Jack to move to various states, including Dallas, Texas; San Francisco, California; Bridgewater, New Jersey; Fairfield, Connecticut; and Denver, Colorado. In 1991, he moved to Garnett, Kansas. Jack graduated from Quinter (Kansas) High School with the class of 1945, and University of Kansas in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. In 1945, Jack graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and served as an Able Body Seaman for three years, participating in troop transportation during the latter part of World War II. From 1956 to 1976, Jack was employed by American Can Co., as a sales representative and manager; 1976 to 1981, Dubuque Packing Co.; and 1981 to retirement in 1991, owned and operated Hi-Country Products of Denver, Colorado. In 1950, during the Korean War, Jack was drafted into the United States Army. He was a radio operator, earning his Army Occupation Medal (Germany). He was honorably discharged November 18, 1952, as a Tech. Sgt. Mr. Fink was a member of Garnett Presbyterian Church; Garnett Rotary; Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #6397 of Garnett; and American Legion Fuller Thompson Post #48 of Garnett. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge of Quinter and Ahmes Shrine of San Francisco, California. He organized and conducted computer classes in Garnett; was political reporter for the Anderson County Review; served as treasurer for the Anderson County Republican Party; and was a Precinct Committeeman. On September 1, 1954, Jack was united in marriage with Kathryn Cook at Garnett, Kansas. She survives of their home. SERVICES: Memorial services will be held at Garnett Presbyterian Church, Garnett, Kansas, at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2005. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor George R. Pasley and Rev. Bill O`Connell. IN STATE: Mr. Fink has been cremated. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Kansas or Garnett Presbyterian Church, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
