Jack Banfield, 77, Apache Junction, Ariz., formerly of Paola, passed away Nov. 19, 2009, at home in Arizona. He was born June 27, 1932, in Raceland, Ky., to Lester Banfield and Arizona (Zona) Terry. He joined the U.S. Army and was transferred from Kentucky to Fort Leavenworth, KS, to be in the Army Band. After four years in the Army, he met and married the mother of his children, Rosamond (Rosie), and moved to Paola. They were married for 27 years. He was employed at Humes Music and Jenkins Music in Kansas City, where he tuned pianos, repaired instruments and taught guitar lessons to hundreds of people over the years. He also sold life insurance, worked for the sheriff"s department in Paola, and his last job was for the State of Kansas Fraud Dept. He was married to Penelope (Penny) Clark for 25 years. They moved to Arizona, and she passed away in September 2006. He married Garnett Noble in February 2009. He became the King Tut at Mobile Home Park Jam Sessions in Arizona " people would argue who was going to carry his equipment and who was going to sit by him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Penelope, and a grandson. He is survived by his wife, Garnett of the home; children, Richard Banfield and Gregg Banfield, both of Joplin, MO, and Sharon Decker of Raymore, MO; foster son, Bob Beach; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial jam celebrating his life and music will be held at the Paola V.F.W. at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 17.
