Ivan Eugene Boydston, age 77, of Paola, Kansas, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at his home. Ivan was born December 14, 1935. He was the son of Rufus Boydston and Mary (Hammar) Boydston. He graduated from Paola High School in 1954 and was a member of the Kansas National Guard. He married Sharon (Walker) Boydston on October 3, 1980. Ivan spent most of his career working as a truck driver. He loved fishing, oil painting, KU basketball, and drinking coffee with his buddies. He was a talented track athlete in high school, the reason friends today still call him "Ace." He was preceded in death by his parents, and his two brothers Russell and Gerald. He is survived by his wife Sharon of the home; two daughters Kim Starr of Mission and Kelly Smith of Paola; one son Max Boydston of Lane; two sisters Juanita Elrod of Basehor and Freda Schlesener of Rantoul; two brothers Norman Boydston of Spring Hill and Donald Boydston of Louisburg; 9 grandchildren Shelby Johnson, Katie Jackson, Morgan Smith, Alicia Hadlock, Graham Smith, Holly Schlup, Whitney Shoemaker, Austin Smith, Devan Boydston; 12 great-grandchildren Ryley Johnson, Ava Johnson, Zeke Johnson, Kameron Hughes, Kaden Shay, Kinley Hadlock, Krislyn Hadlock, Taylor Schlup, Alexis Stallbaumer, Olivia Bassett, Stevie, Jr. Bassett, Dominic Bassett; and many friends.
