Irma Marie Player, 93, a Miami County native, died August 22, 2012 after a brief illness. Irma was born April 17, 1919 to Clifford and Etta Wright in Osage Township. She attended Liberty School District 20 and Fontana High School, graduating in 1937. She attended her 75th class reunion this year. She worked in Kansas City, where she met William I. Player (Bill), who was a railway mail clerk. She and Bill were married September 11, 1940 at her parents" farm home. They became the proud parents of two sons, Robert and James. They continued to live in the Kansas City area until 1951, when they bought a farm in Stanton Township and operated a Grade A dairy. Irma was very active in the Spring Ridge community. She was a member of the Spring Ridge Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder, Trustee, and was Treasurer for many years. She also taught Sunday school for many years. She was a community 4-H leader and an active member of the Spring Ridge Ladies Aid. After the closure of Spring Ridge Presbyterian, she began attending Plum Creek Methodist Church. She loved to do for others and care for her family. She always had a vegetable garden and pretty flowers, and actually loved to mow the grass. She helped when needed with the farm work. Irma was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Carl Wright, and sister, Evelyn Wright Barlow. She is survived by her sons, Bob and Jim; daughter-in-law, Carol; grandchildren, Sherri, Alan, and Cathy; great grandchildren, Erin, Austin, Garrett, Dawson, and Robby; and brother, Clifford Wright. Memorial contributions may be made to Plum Creek Methodist Church or American Diabetes Association.
