Irene Renzenberger

Irene Renzenberger was born on Tuesday, June 23, 1923, in Manhattan, Riley County, Kansas. She was the daughter of William J. and Matilda (Lickteig) Rommelfanger. Irene grew up in Greeley, Kansas; moved to Garnett in 1945 and to Ottawa in 1991, where she made her home until her death on Thursday, September 22, 2011, at the age of eighty-eight years. Irene attended Greeley High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, painting and going fishing. Most of all Irene cherished her family, caring most for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Irene was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5901 Ladies Auxiliary, both of Ottawa. On April 13, 1942, Irene was united in marriage with Charles Francis Renzenberger in Greeley, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 9, 2000. Irene is survived by her daughters, Mary Pruitt and her husband, Mike, of Michigan Valley, Kansas and Carol Cover and her husband, Jimmy, of Ottawa; son, Bill Renzenberger of Lenexa, Kansas and son-in-law, Bill Burgoon of Ottawa; ten grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Sharon Burgoon, a brother, Ernest Rommerfanger and a sister, Marynell Kimball-Peterson. SERVICES: A Funeral Mass will be held from Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 26, 2011. IN STATE: Mrs. Renzenberger will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday. A Rosary will be said at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Dengel & Son Mortuary followed by a visitation from 3:30 to 4:30. CEMETERY: St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Greeley, Kansas.
