Irene Bethurum

Irene Bethurum, age 98, of Paola passed away September 5, 2014 at North Point Skilled Nursing, Paola, Kansas. She was born Sarah Irene on October 2, 1915 in Miami County, Kansas to Thomas and May Garrett Christy. On February 7, 1936 Irene was united in marriage to Harold A. Bethurum in Lawrence, Kansas. They lived on different farms in the Pressonville Community of Miami County. Together they had one daughter Jo Ann. She and Harold enjoyed working in their tomato and vegetable garden. She was preceded in death by parents; husband; daughter Jo Ann; sisters Gertrude McKaig, Hazel Beets, Velma Christie and Opal Burns; and brothers Claude and Paul Christie. Survivors are grandchildren Von, Vern and Kevin Beougher, 11 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
