Ilo Irene Bullock-Price was born on Wednesday, October 30, 1912, in Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Fount and Mayme (Hunt) Bullock. A lifelong resident, Ilo made her home in Ottawa until her death on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at the age of ninety-seven years. Ilo graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1930 and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Ottawa University in 1934, where she majored in Latin and French. She received her training as a lab technician at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. For many years, Ilo was a lab technician and supervisor, working first at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa and later at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Ottawa for over fifty years. She was also an active member of the Ottawa Country Club, the Women’s Golf Association, the Heritage Club at Ottawa University, and the American Association of University Women. Ilo was a lovely lady. She was very social and loved caring for others. She greatly enjoyed visiting with her friends on Wednesday Country Club nights. She also loved animals and adored her beloved cat, Smokey Irene. On August 26, 1984, Ilo was united in marriage with Merle Price in Ottawa. He preceded her in death on September 11, 1991. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Fount and Mayme (Hunt) Bullock; sister, Aletha Winn; and her beloved cat, Smokey Irene. Ilo is survived by her brother, Neil Bullock and his wife, Mary, of Ottawa, Kansas, two nieces, Jean Geist and Nancy Bullock-Bennett, both of Ottawa, two cousins, Nelda Kikel of Pueblo, Colorado, and Carol Alexander of Hemet, California, as well as ten great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at First Baptist Church of Ottawa, with interment at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa. Mrs. Bullock-Price will lie in state after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa, where family will meet with friends from 5:00 to 6:30 Tuesday evening.
