Ida Myrtle Haas, age 95, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Friday, April 12, 2019 at Rock Creek of Ottawa. The family will meet with friends from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M., Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the mortuary. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Myrtle was born on Wednesday, May 2, 1923 in Tescott, Kansas, the daughter of Gillford A. and Minnie (Keihle) Diamond raised by her stepmother Fleta Diamond. She lived in Grandview, Missouri and grew up mainly in Williamsburg, Kansas from the age of nine years, moving to Ottawa at the age of eighteen. Myrtle lived in several small towns and attended a one-room school in Judson, Missouri. She also attended Williamsburg High School. She was a member of the North Baptist Church in Ottawa and the Women’s Bowling League for at least fifteen years. Myrtle was united in marriage to George Crosby Haas October 31, 1942, at Ottawa. He preceded her in death on December 5, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Gillford and Minnie Diamond; stepmother, Fleta Diamond; brothers, Sherman Diamond and J. R. Diamond; sisters, Evelyn Griffin, Mae Poole and Virginia Ward; stepsisters, Lucille Meeks and Ruth Clark and stepbrother, Jimmy Sutton. Myrtle is survived by her sons, Pat Haas and wife Sharon of Ottawa and David Haas and wife Cathy of Richmond; daughter, Donna Cook, Lawrence; sister, Frances Roller and husband Vern of Ottawa; half-brother, David Diamond and wife Joan of Ottawa; grandsons, Travis Haas, Dustin Haas and wife Aleshka, Ethan Mustain, Eric Toumberlin and wife Suzanne; granddaughters, Megan Morris and husband Doug, Molly Bugner and husband Dalton, Carrie Geist and husband Raymond; great grandchildren, Gavin, Dane, Quinncy, Maleah, Randi, Dillon, Devin, Riley, Troy, Maya, Breanna, Emma, Abby, Landon, Gage and Beck. Myrtle was a homemaker and worked ten years at Walker’s Ready to Wear and later thirteen years at Daylight Donuts. She loved to cook for her family, make quilts, crochet and read. Myrtle also sewed and patched a lot of jeans. The family suggests memorial contributions to North Baptist Church or Crossroads Hospice & Palliative Care c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
