Ida Faye Sayler, 88, of Princeton, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014, under the care of St. Luke’s Hospice, with her family by her side. Friends will meet with family at 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 20, 2014, at Dengel & Son Mortuary followed by a funeral service at noon. Interment Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Kansas. Ida was born Tuesday, May 11, 1926, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, the daughter of Arthel E. “Art” and Carrie (Tooley) Bowden. She lived in Princeton since 1963, moving from Lane, Kansas. She previously lived in Spring Hill and Lenexa, as well as in, California, Washington and Oregon. Ida was united in marriage with Robert L. Sayler June 13, 1944, in Olathe, Kansas. He preceded her in death March 23, 1972. Ida not only was a wife, mother and homemaker; she also worked as a cook/nutritionist for more than twenty years for Ransom Memorial Hospital and was formerly employed by Ottawa USD 290, also as a cook/nutritionist. She was a member of the Princeton United Methodist Church. Survivors include her children, Eva Trober and husband Bob of Kansas City, Kansas; Roberta “Robin” Lloyd and husband Bill of Princeton; Jess Sayler and wife Betty of Burlington; Michael Sayler and wife Debbie of Topeka; Buddy Sayler and wife Connie of Kansas City, Kansas; and Jerry Sayler and wife Cynthia of Princeton; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchildren; siblings, Ora Clay Bowden and wife Martha, Leona Garlett, Janice Seacrease, and Oma Clark; sister-in-law, Mildred Sanborn of Meriden, Kansas; and son-in-law, Jimmie Walker of Ottawa. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Carol Walker; granddaughter, Deidre Marie Sayler; seven sisters, Nora Collier, Hazel Hedges, Lorene Brown, Ilene Paul, Mary Eastland, Linda Goold, and Virginia Erb; and brother, Robert Bowden.
