Hyder Zedic “Zed” Braden, 85, of Richmond, Kansas, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016, at Wellsville Retirement Community. Family will meet with friends from 1:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M., Monday, September 19, 2016, at Dengel & Son Mortuary with funeral service following at 2:30 P.M. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery, 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 20, 2016. Zed was born Thursday, September 25, 1930, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, the son of Martin Zedic and Hyder Karama (Taylor) Braden. He lived in Fremont, California, moving in 1992 to Richmond. He graduated from Wyandotte High School, Kansas City, Kansas with the class of 1946. Zed was united in marriage with Vivian Bedard August 21, 1953, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She survives at their home. Other survivors include his five children, Larry Braden of Boardman, Oregon, Gregory Braden of Georgia, Martin Braden and wife Parker of Carson City, Nevada, Damon Braden and wife Laura of Spring Valley, California, and Kathryn Polidore and husband Joe of Ottawa; nineteen grandchildren; and thirty great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Zedic and Hyder Karama Braden. Zed was employed as an auto mechanic and then later an equipment mechanic. For the last 14 years, he was a greeter at the Ottawa WalMart. Zed served in the United States Marine Corps following World War II for nearly two years with the rank of private first class. He was honorably discharged in 1950. He was a member of the Agape Church in Ottawa. He enjoyed big game hunting in the Rocky Mountains, fishing, camping, reading, traveling and above all his family.
