Howard E. Urton, 90, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at his home in Ottawa, Kansas. Family will meet with friends from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., Friday, August 21, 2015, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Saturday, August 22, 2015, at Yates Center Cemetery, Yates Center, Kansas. Howard was born Friday, January 9, 1925, in Virgil, Kansas, the son of John Lyle and Hazel Alice (Louk) Urton. He was a near lifelong resident of Ottawa. After graduating from Quincy High School in Quincy, Kansas, with the class of 1944, Howard served his country in the United States Army during World War II from August 1944 to July 1946 attaining the rank of Sergeant. Howard was united in marriage with Marjorie Helen Moyer November 26, 1950, in Yates Center, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his six children, Richard Urton of Ottawa, Connie Wadkins of Quenemo, Lyle Urton of Ottawa, Gary Urton of Ottawa, Margie Hinderliter and husband Harold of Ottawa, and Candy Huffman and husband Chris of Ottawa; brother, Earl Urton and wife Sharron of Eureka; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Pauline Urton of Waverly. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Chuck and Virgil Urton. He was a farmer/stockman also working as a machinist for Bendix, now known as Honeywell, in Kansas City, Missouri, retiring after twenty-seven years. He was a member of the Machinist Union. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Howard Urton Memorial Fund c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
