Howard Chester

Howard L. Chester age 77 of Paola passed away Tues. at the Olathe Medical Center, Services will be Fri. Oct. 2, at 1:30 PM, visitation Thurs. from 6 to 8:00 PM, burial Paola Cemetery, memorials to National Federation of the Blind. To leave a special message for family go to penwellgabelpaola.com. Howard was born on Dec. 22, 1931 in Osawatomie, KS to Lee Payton and Helen Alberta Potts Chester. He has spent his whole life in the community. Howard enlisted in the United States Army in 1952 and was honorable discharged as a Corporal in 1954. On Dec. 25, 1954 he was united in marriage to Alberta Spilker in Paola Kansas. Together they raised 6 children. Howard enjoyed working on antique autos, playing bingo, going to swap meets, and enjoyed the friendship at the McDonalds Coffee club. He was employed at the Paola Lumber and Coal from 1959 until 1990 when he became a partner until it"s closing in 1992. Howard was very friendly and always gave a helping hand. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Alberta. Survivors are sons Danny Chesterof North Kansas City Mo., Clifford Chester, Walter Chester, James Chester, all of Paola, Willam Chester of Lane, and Robert Chester of Paola, 6 grand children, and 7 great grand, sis., Lois Richards, bro., Robert Chester, sis., Nancy Head all of Paola, bro., Don Chester of LaCygne, and sis., Carolyn Bennett of Paola. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
