Hilda Marjorie “Marge” Korte, 93, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014, at Vintage Park at Ottawa, surrounded by her family. Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, followed by a family and friends visitation at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 16, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 408 S. Cedar, Ottawa. Burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Emporia, Kansas, 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 17, 2014. Marge was born March 16, 1921, in Emporia, Kansas, to the late Dora (Schroer) and Frank Fladung. After graduating from Emporia High School she worked in Kansas City until she married Al Korte, the love of her life, in 1946. As a young family they lived in Emporia, Kansas, before moving to Ottawa in 1958. Marge’s greatest pleasure was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her children treasure their memories of her wise council, Sunday cinnamon rolls, and fried chicken. She worked for Parmelee/Platner Industries and King Radio, as an assembler for twelve years, retiring in 1988. While living in Emporia, she was a member of the Sacred Heart Church. In 1958, when she moved to Ottawa, she became a member of the Sacred Heart Church Ottawa. Survivors include her children, Richard Korte and wife Judy, David Korte and wife Karen Erickson, JoAnn Cowdin and husband Roger, Philip Korte and wife Jane Ferguson, and Greg Korte and wife Debbie; sister, Rosemary Hogan; grandchildren, Scott Korte and wife Chris, Melissa Osborne and husband Barry, Eric Korte and wife Rosanna Imholte, Aaron Cowdin and wife Makoto Sakamoto, Amber Cowdin, Alexia Ruboyianes and husband Andy, Derek Korte, Arriana Korte and husband Jimmy, Anastasia Hawkins and husband Ryan, Zack Korte, Thalia Korte, and Deric and Blake Bishop; great-grandchildren, Dylan Korte, Maxim, Atticus and Silas Osborne, Harper and Gus Korte, Alessabetta and Theofania Robyianes, Soren and Bozley Cowdin; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Dwayne Korte; husband, Al Korte; sisters, Eileen Lowenstein, Charlotte Korte and Sister Jane Fladung; brothers, Jim, Herman, Gene and John Fladung.
