Hilda Eckhoff

Hilda Eckhoff, age 97, of Paola, Kansas passed away July 22, 2012 at North Point Skilled Nursing Center. Hilda was born in Miami County, Kansas on the family farm March 28, 1915 to John and Bertha Schultz Gerken. On March 24, 1929 she had her confirmation to the Lutheran Church. She was united in marriage to Richard Eckhoff on May 5, 1945 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kansas City, Missouri. They made their home in Kansas City where he worked for a steel company and she was employed as a seamstress at a local dress factory. After Richard passed away on August 2, 1976, Hilda moved to Paola in the late 1980"s to be near family. Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, playing cards, and traveling, especially to Guatemala with her husband to see family. Hilda was a member of First Lutheran Church in Paola. Hilda is preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Edna Prothe, Elsie Grother, and Esther Keller. She is survived by her brother Ted Gerken, sister Irene Stohs, and many nieces and nephews.
