Herman (Junior) Henery was born on Friday, July 29, 1932, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born to Herman, Sr. and Mary (Duling) Henery. Junior lived his entire life in Goff, Kansas on the family farm, until he went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 16, 2006, at the age of seventy-four years. Junior graduated from Wetmore High School in Wetmore, Kansas in 1950. He served in the United States Army from June of 1953 until May of 1955 at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where he was honored with the National Defense Service Medal. Junior was a devoted member of Saint Patrick's Church of Corning, Kansas. Junior was a devoted husband, father and grandpa. He loved being around his family when he wasn't farming and tending to his cattle. He loved living on the family farm. Farming was his lifelong love and occupation. Junior was also a familiar fan at all Wetmore High games. For many years, he served on the chain gang for the Wetmore football team, and spent many hours watching football on television, while listening to his favorite team, the K.U. Jayhawks, on the radio. He also enjoyed meeting fellow farmers and friends in Goff for a good game of cards. On May 28, 1981, Junior was united in marriage with Pauline (Mignot) Harwell in Ottawa. She survives Junior after twenty-five years of marriage. Junior is also survived by his stepchildren, Sherry Wheeler and her husband, David, of Ottawa, Gordon Bailey of Warsaw, Missouri, Douglas Bailey and his wife, Wanda, of Appleton City, Missouri, Gene Harwell of Topeka, Kansas; seven step grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren; his Aunt Helen of Kansas City, Missouri, and several cousins. Junior is preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and infant sister. SERVICES: A funeral mass will be said from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa, 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2006. IN STATE: Mr. Henery will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. CEMETERY: Wellsville Cemetery, Wellsville, Kansas.
