Henry Thoden

Henry T. Thoden, age 98, passed away February 9, 2015 at KU Medical Center. He was born on December 8, 1916 in the Block Community to Henry and Sena Pope Thoden. He attended Trinity Lutheran School and became a lifetime farmer in the area. He was united in marriage to Arlene Nellis on December 21, 1940 and they made their home on the family farm. Hank as he was known was the patriarch of the Thoden family. Hank was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Block, and enjoyed singing in the choir. He also enjoyed traveling to Texas during the winter months with family and visiting with family and friends. Hank was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son Norlan; brothers Walter, Martin, and Elmer; sister Emma; and son-in-law George Cobat. Surviving are his daughter Janet Cobat of Arizona, three grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and distant relatives. He will be greatly missed by those that knew him. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
