Henry Joseph Caple

Henry Joseph Caple was born on Sunday, February 4, 1912, in Ransomville, Kansas. He was the son of George Joseph and Ida (Bailey) Caple. Henry was a lifelong Franklin County, Kansas resident, moving from north of Ransomville to Pomona, where he made his home until his death on Saturday, August 26, 2006, at the age of ninety-four years. Henry was a friendly person who was always willing to help anyone who needed him. When he was a young man, he dug coal with his dad. He worked for Ransomville for several years, Irene and Bill Herrin, and Charlie Hamilton. He farmed and helped for many years hauling hay, cutting and delivering wood with Jim, and helped mow Greenwood and Central Cemeteries. He was a hard-working man. In fact, he was still mowing at the age of ninety-three. On February 15, 1940, Henry was united in marriage with Doris Irene Doty in Ottawa, Kansas. She preceded him in death on February 1, 1976. He is also preceded in death by his son, George Caple; sister, Gladys Anderson; and brother, Ernie Caple. Henry is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, James H. and Joan Caple of Quenemo, Kansas; sister, Gracie Bittenbender of Williamsburg, Kansas; grandson, Bryan James Caple and his wife, Dana, of Gardner, Kansas; great-granddaughter, Kristin Renee Caple; step grandson, Brandon Dawson; and several nieces and nephews. SERVICES: Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2006, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Pomona. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Kenneth Hennessey. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Caple at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Thursday evening.
