Helen Viola Weaver Nay Wood, age 90, formerly of Louisburg KS, and a resident at The Manor at Grace Gardens, Leawood, KS passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Olathe Medical Center. Helen was born on April 1, 1922 in Akron, Colorado to Everett David Weaver and Emma Mast Weaver. She was the fifth of six daughters: (Juanita Weaver Whitney, Eva Weaver Fort, Lucille Weaver Hatfield, Leah Weaver Cawby and Elsie Weaver Wells Stephens). She grew up in Paola, KS, graduating from Paola High School with the Class of 1940. She maintained close ties to her classmates through out the years, and greatly cherished the friendships and memories of years past. She married Albert Nay and two sons, were born from this marriage, Tim and Ted Nay. This marriage ended in divorce. Helen later married Max Wood and lived in Louisburg KS for many years. Carrie Wood Brooks and Joe Wood were born of this union. Helen was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, cook, seamstress, gardener and homemaker. She was particular and precise and insisted that any job worth doing was worth doing well. She was the foundation of the family, and could always be counted on to listen and advise as needed, but yet she was a very humble and unassuming woman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Everett Weaver; sisters, Juanita, Eva, Lucille and Leah, husbands Albert Nay and Max Wood; and her son Ted Nay. Surviving is her sister, Elsie; her children, Tim (Mary) Nay, Carrie Brooks, Joe (Cindy) Wood, and daughter-in-law Brenda Nay; grandchildren, Rusty (Kelly) Nay, Todd (Georgia) Nay, Jennifer (Brendan) Mick, Tony (Cris) Nay, Perry (Tasha) Brooks, Emily (Scott) Jones, Jake, Max, and Nick Wood and Shelby Travison; great- grandchildren, Jessie and Thomas Nay, Matthew and Michael Nay, Lilly and Jack Mick and Trenton Jones; step great-grandchildren, Justin and Jessie Hutmacher; great-great- grandchildren; Carter Hendrickson, Gracie Wood and Braydon Wood; many nieces and nephews and friends at The Manor at Grace Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Catholic Charities or Salvation Army.
