Helen Lucile Heathman

Helen Lucile Heathman, age 87, of Overland Park, Kansas, died Friday, June 22, 2012 in Overland Park, Kansas. She was born on September 17, 1924 in Iola, Kansas, the daughter of Frank Lewis and Stella Nevada (Ross) Smith. She grew up in Iola, Kansas; moved to Ottawa, Kansas in December, 1945, and to Overland Park, Kansas in 2006. Helen graduated from Iola High School with the class of 1942. She worked fourteen years as a teller at Anchor Savings in Ottawa, Kansas, retiring in 1989 and over the years helped with the bookkeeping at Heathman Oil and Salvage. On April 13, 1943, Helen was united in marriage with Eugene C. Tiny Heathman at Laredo, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1991. She is survived by her: Son - Cecil Heathman of Overland Park, Kansas Daughter – Barbara Zillner and husband, Vince, of Prairie Village, Kansas Grandson- Breck Wittman of Dillon, Colorado Step-Grandson-John Zillner and his family, of Garnett, Kansas Step-Granddaughter-Cortney Alden and her family, of Olathe, Kansas She is preceded in death by her: Parents - Frank L. and Stella N. Smith Brother - Clarence Smith Brother - Earl Smith Sister - Marie Smith Sister - Beulah Bartsch Sister - Irene Lane Sister – Ruby Ellis Sister – Dorothy Rice SERVICES: A Graveside Service will be held at Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2012. IN STATE: Mrs. Heathman will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening.
