Helen Haefele Bilyeu

Helen Elaine (Haefele) Bilyeu, age 73, of Grove, Oklahoma, passed on unexpectedly on Sunday, September 10, 2017. She was born February 29, 1944, in Louisburg, Kansas, daughter of the late Cyril and Nadine (McDowell) Haefele. She is predeceased by her brother Fredrick Haefele. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Richard Bilyeu; her two children Sandi (Frey) Reddin and Marc Frey and grandson Nick Reddin; Step-children Scott Bilyeu, Angie Bilyeu, Carie Bilyeu, step-grandchildren Seth Bilyeu, Skye (Bilyeu) Tennant, Saige Bilyeu and six step-great grandchildren; sister Margaret (Haefele) Hahn and brother-in-law John and brother Ray Haefele and sister-in-law Irene; and Godchildren Mary (Hahn) Ewing, Heather (Stuchlik) Ehlert, Amy (Haefele) Watkins and Krista (Stuchlik) Curler. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, family and friends. Helen enjoyed spending time gardening, cooking, sewing, crafting, reading, living the lake life and traveling. She was an active member of Garden Club both in Grove, Oklahoma, and Bonner Springs, Kansas. She was very involved in her children’s activities and school library, church and community. Helen never met anyone that she didn’t like and always puts others first. She will be remembered and cherished for her integrity, wisdom, generous spirit and laugh. Join us in celebrating Helen’s life on Saturday, September 16, in Louisburg, Kansas, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 606 South Elm Street Louisburg, KS. Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Louisburg Public Library, Bonner Springs Public Library or Overland Park Arboretum.
