Helen Irene Blakeman

Helen Irene Blakeman, born on August 6, 1940, in Paola, Kansas, peacefully passed away on March 29, 2025, at The Villages at Olathe, Kansas. She was a cherished member of her community and a beloved matriarch of her family.

Helen dedicated 32 years of her life as a legal secretary, bringing professionalism and diligence to her role. Her academic journey started at Paola High School, from which she graduated in 1958. She continued her education at Ft. Scott Community College for a time, further enriching her knowledge and skills.

Beyond her career, Helen was an active and engaged member of her community. She served as a member of Lighthouse Presbyterian Church and held the esteemed position of President of the Miami County Hospital Auxiliary. Through her volunteer work in the Surgery Reception at the Miami County Hospital, she touched the lives of many with her compassion and dedication.

Helen is survived by Neil her husband of 50 years, her loving children: Bret Miller, Brenda Christy, Michele Kibler, Annette Myers, and Galen Blakeman. She also leaves behind her siblings: Lester Homrighausen, Harold Homrighausen, and Freda Bloomberg, as well as her dearly loved grandchildren, Sam Christy, Nola Miller, Ava Miller, Jediah Miller, Ashley Myers, Joshua Myers, Andrew Myers, Jeff Kibler, and Megan Kibler, along with 2 beloved great-grandchildren, Elizah Christy and Rhys Bryers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Nova Homrighausen, and her sister, Ila Gillogly. Helen's legacy is one of dedication, service, and love for her family and community. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
