Hazel L. Soap, age 68, of Louisburg, Kansas passed away at the Olathe Hospice House on February 13, 2015. Hazel was born June 4, 1946 at Stilwell, Kansas. She was the daughter of James Hershel York and Eva "Eleanor" (Blanton, York) Bailey. She grew up in Louisburg and attended school there. She and Norman "Leo" Barnes were partners since 1970. Hazel worked as a cook at T-5, Blair House and various other restaurants. She also spent many years at Kiddie Korral. She enjoyed bible studies, gardening, crocheting, canning, and cooking. She always had family and friends around her. She was a member of the Louisburg Baptist Temple. She was preceded in death by her partner Norman "Leo" Barnes, her parents, her sister Jessie Slawson, three brothers James, William, and Charles York, and son Charles Barnes. She is survived by her children Mary Hulse of Fredericksburg, Virginia; Harold Barnes of Overbrook, Kansas, and Judy Barnes of Lawrence, Kansas; one grandson, Travis Ross III, Fredericksburg, Virginia; one brother, Richard L. York, Windsor, MO; other relatives and friends. The family suggests contributions to the Olathe Hospice House or Louisburg Baptist Temple.
