Harvey Barnett

HARVEY JAY BARNETT Harvey Jay Barnett, 100, of Paola, KS, passed away July 17, 2011 at North Point Nursing Facility. Harvey was born October 20, 1910, son of Roy and Anna Alpert Barnett. He attended grade school at the Lone Elm country school. He married Edna Alberta Hollinger October 23, 1932. They lived their entire married life at the same location, which had been the home of his grandfather, A. H. Barnett, a farm northwest of Paola in the Pressonville community. The Pressonville corner, years ago, had a store, post office, creamery, Hall, and later a gas station. Mr. Barnett was a quiet sincere person. He was proud of his farm and enjoyed having it look nice. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Edna; a son Robert; two sisters Elizabeth Guyer of Garden City, KS and Alvera Cross of Tulsa, OK; and a grandson Russell Barnett of Paola, KS. He is survived by a brother Edward and wife Sally of Wellsville, KS; a son Harold and wife Colleen of Paola, KS; two grandchildren Rolland and wife Barb of Paola, KS and Lisa Guenther and husband Lawrence of Stilwell, KS; and five great grandchildren Chet Barnett on the USS Enterprise, Bret Barnett of Gardner, KS, Benjamin, Amelia, and Jacob Guenther of Stilwell, KS. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
