Harold LeForest Weaver of Paola, KS, died Friday, February 6, 2009, at the Indian Creek Nursing Home in Overland Park, KS. Memorials may be made to the Disabled Veterans Association, in care of the funeral home. Harold was born Oct. 11, 1918, in Chautauqua County, KS, to Lester and Lula Briggs Weaver. He graduated from high school and attended Diesel Mechanic School. Harold was united in marriage to Elizabeth Lee Fultz in Nevada, MO, on February 14, 1941. They became the parents of four children. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1945 and was stationed in Quam and Hiroshima Japan after the war. He served until 1946. They lived in Iola, where he was employed as a mechanic for the Bud White Motor Company and the Pet Milk Company. They moved to Paola in 1950, where Harold was a mechanic for Peuser Chevrolet and the Fleuer Corporation in Paola. Harold was very involved helping his wife, Betty, with their businesses, Betty"s Caf", Dew Drop Inn Restaurant, and Betty"s Bridal and Boutique in Paola. He received his 50 year pin from the American Legion in 2004. Harold enjoyed working with his hands and was a race car enthusiast. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one sister. Survivors are his children, son Gene and wife Patty Weaver of Paola; daughter, Trudy and husband Will Jensen of Wichita, KS; daughter, Deborah and husband Mark Zimmerman of Paola; daughter, Lisa and husband Dave Lee of Louisburg; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Lyle of Fredonia, KS and Ivan Weaver of Wichita, KS; 2 sisters, Esther Stephenson of Dodge City, KS, and Florence Merritt of Elkart, KS. Harold will be greatly missed by family and friends.
