Harold Gene Sevy, Sr., age 85, of Paola, Kansas passed away on February 19, 2014. Harold was born on June 9, 1928, in Lenexa, Kansas to John and Delia (Honicker) Sevy. He grew up in rural Louisburg, KS and graduated from Louisburg High School. He married Oreta Welch in 1950 and later divorced. Together they had three children. Harold was an Army Veteran and spent part of his service in occupied Europe. He briefly attended Kansas State University before beginning his lifelong passion in the Petro Chemical construction field. Over the years he worked mainline, re-routes, station and terminal, electrical and tanks all over the Continental United States. He worked until he was 79 years of age and was hoping he would feel better to go back to work. As he aged, he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In his later years he loved attending their activities. Harold also enjoyed reading, KU athletics and a hand of poker. He is survived by his son Harold G. Sevy, Jr. (Judy); his daughters Debi Anthony (Don) and Amy Herron (Terry); a brother John Marvin Sevy of Owensboro, KY; a sister Clara Mae Day of Stokesdale, NC; seven grandchildren Leslie Allers, Jordan Sevy, Elizabeth Stanchfield, Stephanie Knecht, Rebecca Phipps, Adam Herron and Seth Herron and twelve great grandchildren. A light lunch will be served following the service at Lighthouse Presbyterian Church in Paola.
