Harold “George” Eugene West, 58, of Pomona, Kansas, passed away after a short illness Monday, December 8, 2014, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Cremation is planned. Family will meet with friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Saturday, December 13, 2014, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. A prayer service will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Harold “George” was born Saturday, March 24, 1956, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the youngest of four siblings born to Harry E. & Bonnie J. (Duncan) West. He lived in numerous locations throughout the United States including, Colorado, Arizona, California and Wyoming before moving to Pomona, Kansas, in 1997. He attended schools in Penrose and Florence, Colorado, playing football and basketball throughout his school years. Harold “George” was united in marriage with Donna Pearson-Briggs February 28, 1998, in Casper, Wyoming. His wife Donna survives along with his mother, Bonnie West of Rogers, Arkansas; son, Jason West and wife Amanda of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; five grandchildren, Neva West of Ohio, Dakota West of Oklahoma, Adrian Briggs of Ottawa, Kansas, Chase Wiggins-West and Lillian West both of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; two sisters, Susie Walter of Rogers, Arkansas and Linda Wilson and husband Rick of Bentonville, Arkansas; brother, Larry West of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry West; grandparents; son, Jeremy Lee Briggs; and numerous aunts and uncles. Harold “George” was a truck driver for over thirty-seven years. He drove for Sinclair, Petco, West Trucking, UTI, Johnson Fuel Liner, Dalcam and Sapp Brothers. Since 1997, he drove for Wal-Mart Distribution Center #6835 of Ottawa, Kansas. He was an avid enthusiast of NHRA drag racing and also liked to participate in drag racing events. He liked watching football, basketball, golf, NASCAR and John Wayne movies. He also enjoyed camping, boating and traveling the country. The family suggests memorial contributions to Harold “George” E. West Memorial Fund c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
