Harold Francis Jones

September 15, 1921 — April 20, 2004

Harold grew up in Ottawa, moving with his family to Pleasanton, Kansas, after high school, returning to Ottawa in 1975. Harold graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1939. He drove a truck about fifteen years at the strip mines for Peabody Coal Company in Pleasanton, Kansas, worked at the Ford Motor Company Kansas City Assembly Plant, and then for the State of Kansas at the Port of Entry at Trading Post and then at Olathe. Harold served during World War II with the U.S. Army Ordnance Tank Transport in Europe. Harold was a member and Past Master of Eureka Lodge #88, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Pleasanton, Kansas and a member of Ottawa Lodge #18, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry of Lawrence, Kansas, life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Memorial Post # 5901, Ottawa, and attended First Baptist Church and the Homebuilders Sunday School Class. On September 21, 1975, Harold was united in marriage with Estel Yvonne Johnson at Ottawa. She survives of their home. SERVICES: Graveside inurnment services will be held at Highland Cemetery 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2004, with Masonic services by Ottawa Lodge #18, A.F. & A.M., and Military services by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901, of Ottawa. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Steven C. Van Ostran. IN STATE: Mr. Jones was cremated. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to the Ottawa Library or Ottawa Lodge #18, A.F. & A.M., c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
