Guylene R. Huyett, age 71 of Gardner, Kansas, died Friday, February 22, 2013 in Olathe. She was born on Saturday, September 20, 1941, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Cecil and Ruby (Dotson) Huyett. Guylene has lived in Gardner for twenty years prior to being a long time Ottawa resident. She graduated from Prairie Grove High School, Prairie Grove, Arkansas with the class of 1959. Guylene was united in marriage to Jerry Smithey. They later divorced. Surviving family members include daughter, Carol Poage of Greeley, Kansas; three sisters, Hazel Lindell and her husband Elmer of Lawrence, Kansas, Ruby Bussell and her husband Leonard of Osawatomie, Kansas, and Lila Moses of Lakewood, Colorado; brother, Clyde Huyett and his wife Choe of Olathe, Kansas; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Preceding Guylene in death are her son, Wade Smithey; daughter, Tracy Fiest; parents, Cecil and Ruby Huyett; three brothers, Joe, Wilbur, and Irvin Huyett; and two sisters, Anna Feitz and Clara Bateman. Guylene was presently employed by Unilever – New Century as a lab technician working for the last twenty-three years. SERVICES: Cremation is planned. Private Graveside Service and Inurnment at Highland Cemetery will be held at a later date.
