August 6, 1962 — August 20, 2015

Guy L. Romine, 53, of Pittsburg, Kansas, passed away August 21, 2015 at Via Christi Hospital from lung cancer. Guy was born August 7, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of John and Phyllis Jones Romine. He moved with his family to Paola in 1970. He attended Paola schools and graduated from Paola High School with the class of 1982. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 100. Guy helped with Paola High School football teams and was a member of the golf team. Even though he suffered from cerebral palsy his entire life he never considered himself as handicapped. He lived independently until June of this year when he became ill. Guy attended Wichita Area Technical College and graduated with a degree in computer aided drafting. He used his talent to design tools for handicapped individuals. He also created a creative design for bluebird houses under the tutelage and friendship of Bob Susnik of Pittsburg State University where Guy took classes. He was preceded in death by his father, John Romine, and a niece, Coy Conner. Survivors include his mother, Phyllis Romine, of Paola; a brother, James Romine, of Lawrence, KS; sisters, Beth Conner and Carrie Howell of Paola, Gwen Romine of Spring Hill, KS and Andrea Romine of Stoughton, WI, and his friends and caretakers in Pittsburg, KS.
