Grover Stephen “Steve” Froggatte, 71, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015, at his home in Princeton, Kansas, with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Graveside services will be held at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Princeton Cemetery with military honors by the United States Marine Corps. Steve was born Thursday, August 5, 1943, in Beaver, Oklahoma, the son of Grover O. and Betty Lee (Girk) Froggatte. He moved to Princeton, Kansas in 1954 from the Beaver, and Forgan, Oklahoma area, lived in Pittsburg in 1965, moved back to Rantoul in 1966 and managed RB Ranch until 1970, when he returned to Princeton. He graduated from Princeton High School with the class of 1961, and continued his education at Kansas State University until joining the Marines, after returning he attended Pittsburg State University. Steve served in the United States Marine Corps from February 6, 1962 to December 30, 1965. He served as Lance Corporal during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was later stationed in Vietnam. His decorations and citations included .45 Pistol Sharpshooter, M-14 Rifle Marksman Badge, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal. Steve was united in marriage with Nina “Sherry” Davidson March 28, 1965, in Rantoul, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his three children, Jodi White and husband Jeffrey of Princeton, Jared Froggatte and wife Wendy of Iola, and Jana Reeves of Auburn; sister, Bessie Bloomer of Rantoul; brother, Kenneth Froggatte and wife Judy of Ottawa; nine grandchildren, Stephen White and wife Tiffany, Savannah White, Grover J. Froggatte, Nina Froggatte, Hannah Froggatte, Joseph Froggatte, Evan Reeves, Jack Reeves, and Benjamin Reeves; two great grandchildren, Jared “Nate” Froggatte, and Ava White; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins including a special cousin, Billy Potter. He was preceded in death by his parents; and granddaughter, Isabella Reeves. He was the owner of SF Farms where he worked as a farmer/rancher throughout his life. He was a member of the Ruhamah Baptist Church, Franklin County Soil Conservation Board, Rural Water District No. 6 Board, Cutler Township Board, and the American Angus Association.
