Gregory Scott Carroll, 55, passed away Monday, July 9, 2018 in Kansas City, Kansas at his home. Greg was born May 22, 1963 in Hettinger, North Dakota to Donald and Irene (Molbert) Carroll. Greg served in the military as a helicopter pilot. He studied and became a successful Doctor of Ophthalmology and plastic surgeon. He attended University of North Dakota at Grand Forks, North Dakota where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and was ranked #1 in a class of 55. He was a member of the President’s List for 4 years. He specialized in ophthalmic oncology, orbital disease, and ocular plastic surgery. He continued his education at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He practiced in Memphis, Tennessee as assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of Tennessee. He spent several years in the medical field. Greg spent his final years in Kansas City, Kansas. Greg was preceded in death by his father, Donald, grandparents, and a nephew. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Irene and Gene Jacobson of Hettinger, ND; his son Ryan Carroll (Jessica) of Fort Campbell, TN; daughter Amanda Carroll of Fargo, ND; 2 grandsons, 2 brothers Tim Carroll (Karen) of AL and Keith Carroll of WA; one sister Donita Messner (Brian) of Paola, KS; several nieces and nephews; long time friend Debbie Graves and a host of friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society. Family and friends are encouraged to post their condolences and memories on Greg's Truibute Wall.
