Granvil Chisam, 82, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022, at home with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at the mortuary. Interment Beagle Cemetery, rural Osawatomie, Kansas. Granvil was born April 17, 1940, in Gainesville, Missouri, the son of John Thomas and Edgie Mae (Smith) Chisam. He grew up in Gainesville, before moving to Kansas City, Kansas where he lived many years. In 1992, he moved to Ottawa, where he made his home until his death. On June 15, 1990, Granvil was united in marriage to Marjorie Sims in Olathe. Granvil was employed from 1965 to 1977 at Trailmobile Inc., Kansas City, Missouri as an A-Mechanic, Shop Forman and Service Manager; from 1977-1983 at Western Trailer Service, Kansas City, Kansas, as a Service Manager; 1982 to 1998 at Chisam Trailer Repair Shop, Kansas City, Kansas, as Owner/Manager; and 1999 to 2016 at Topeka Trailer Repair as Owner/Manager. He was a member of the Greenwood Baptist Church, Ottawa. Granvil enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Edgie Mae Chisam; brothers, James Chisam and Dale Chisam; sisters, Dona Burk, Geraldine Whalen, Julie Adams, and Pauline Jones; and son Joel Chisam. Survivors include his wife Marge; six children, Brian (Julie) Chisam of Springhill, Darren (Brenda) Chisam of Charleston, South Carolina, Michelle (David) Stutheit of De Soto, Dustin Chisam of Olathe, Shawn (Cheri) Miller of Meridan, and Angela Wiglesworth (James Frizelle) of Kansas City, Kansas; ten grandchildren, Matt Chisam, Lauren Miller, Will Chisam, Jackson Stutheit, Gracie Chisam, Lake Miller, Austin Miller, Colin Miller, Ryan Wiglesworth, and Tyler Frizelle; and four great-grandchildren, Annabelle Miller, Avery Miller, Reese Miller and Bridget Chisam; brother Gene (Linda) Chisam of Gainesville, Missouri; and sister Maxine Crowell of Parker.
