Gordie was born on August 21, 1937, to Francis and Maxine Miller in Kansas City, Missouri. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Stilwell High School. He then attended Baker University for track and basketball.
Gordie was married to the love of his life, Margaret Ann (Margie) Rosner on November 9, 1957, at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Bucyrus, KS. Together they had 5 children, 15 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
Gordie worked at Bendix after he was married and worked as a carpenter and builder for the rest of his life. He had farms with cattle that he enjoyed along with the Bourquins sale barn, the food, pie, the banter and ribbing he loved with so many of his great friends and family through the years! When Gordie was around there were always good times and memories made. His laugh was contagious and his sense of humor was hilarious! He was a tad ornery and had a huge heart, with adorable winks and luv you too’s! Anyone who knew him couldn’t help but love him.
Gordie is survived by his 5 children, Linda (Todd) Earnshaw, Kim (Todd) Volker, Jeff Miller, Brian (Leann) Miller, and Todd Miller. His sister, Sally Erisman, and 19 grandchildren, Rachel, Steph, Jamie, Casey, Lindsey, Jordan, Megan, Justin, Brandon, Taylor, Denise, Lauren, Nicolette, TJ, Tanner, Angiel, Ava, Abby, and Wesley, and 37 great-grandchildren. Along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Margie Miller who passed almost 4 years ago. His parents, Francis and Maxine Miller, 5 grandchildren – Bret, Michael, Derrick, Dylan, and Lexie. Daughter-in-laws, Amy Miller, and Reynelle Miller, and his brother-in-law, Butch Erisman.
Gordie was loved and he loved his family and friends. We will and already do, miss him so much!
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made payable to Ascend Hospice or Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, P.O. Box 669, Louisburg, Kansas 66053.
