Goldie I. Nichols was born on Monday, February 28, 1916, in Ness County, Kansas. She was the daughter of George and Mary Florilla (Brubaker) McCurdy. A near lifelong Franklin County, Kansas resident, Goldie made her home in Ottawa until her death on Thursday, December 21, 2006, at the age of ninety years. On November 6, 1956, Goldie was united in marriage with Clyde Nichols at Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1970. Goldie worked as a cook. She and her husband owned and operated their own restaurant before they were associated with her husband's brother, Lee, at Lee's Downtowner for over ten years. She also cooked at Lee's in the south part of Ottawa. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church of Ottawa and Pathfinders Sunday School class. Goldie enjoyed people and loved to visit with her many friends in the restaurant. Everyone enjoyed seeing Goldie and, of course, loved her wonderful cooking.
