Gloria T. Schroeder

Gloria T. Schroeder, 78, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017. Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Faith Lutheran Church, 1320 W. 15th, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., prior to the service at the church. Gloria was born Monday, October 24, 1938, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of John L. and Flora Mae (Meek) Taylor. She grew up in Houston, Texas, moving to Topeka and Garnett. In 1984, Gloria moved to Ottawa, where she made her home until her death. She graduated from Lamar High School in Houston, Texas, with the class of 1957. Gloria continued her education attending Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas and the University of Houston. She finished her degree at Johnson County Community College with her paralegal degree in 1992. Gloria was united in marriage to David Schroeder September 25, 1999, in Ottawa. He survives of the home. Other survivors include her children, Tamalyn Harshman and husband Rusty, Marietta Clark, Charles Schroeder, James Schroeder, George Schroeder, and Allen Schroeder; eight step-children; brother, John Taylor II and wife Margaret; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Calvin. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Flora Taylor. Gloria worked as a medical transcriptionist at Elizabeth Layton Center for 13 years. In 1991, Gloria previously worked for Judge Sachse at the Franklin County Courthouse for 16 years and when he was a private attorney. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church and played the keyboard for the praise team, Sounds of Faith.
