Gloria Delene Turner

Gloria Delene Turner was born on Sunday, December 11, 1949, in Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Orville D. and Gloria Darlene (West) Jones. Delene grew up in Ottawa. She then lived in Topeka fifteen years, returning to Ottawa in November of 2006. She graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1967. A workaholic, in the mid 1970's, Delene was employed by Honeywell. She worked for the company thirty years, first in Lawrence, then Olathe, as a production technician. Delene was a member of Lakeview Church of the Nazarene in Topeka. Delene was so devoted to her family. She loved every moment she could spend with each one and loved spoiling her grandchildren. Delene was always working. Never complained about it, because she worked with some of the best people. She never referred to them as co-workers but as friends and family. They were her support when she needed it and there to help her through her rough times especially her last days. Ask anyone, Delene knew how to have fun. Give her some music and she was off dancing. She could dance to anything that had a beat, however, Elvis was her favorite. She was his number one fan. She had mugs, records, calendars, and dolls. Her favorite Elvis memory was her yearly trip to Memphis. She also liked to get out of the states and see the sights. She liked going on cruises, the late night dancing and just doing things that some people just don't get to do. She lived her life to the fullest and had fun doing it. She is survived by her parents of Ottawa, Kansas; daughter, Pepper Hamilton of Ottawa, Kansas; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Tim Swenson of Alma, Kansas; son and daughter-in-law, Roger, Jr. and Terri Cannady of Krum, Texas; sister, Jean Sims of Olathe, Kansas; and ten grandchildren, Spencer Swenson, Paige Swenson, Sydney Swenson, Karlee Swenson, Blake Hill, Roger Cannady, III, Alex Cannady, Perry Carroll, Destiny Perry, and Precious Hamilton. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Delene at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 p.m. Sunday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends at 10:00 a.m. Monday prior to the service.
