Gloria A. Noll, 81, of rural Osawatomie, passed peacefully January 24, 2014 at home surrounded by her family. Gloria was born February 4, 1932 in Nadeau, Michigan to Joseph and Evelyn Machalk. She grew up in the Daggett community where her parents owned and operated a tavern (Joe's Bar). She attended Stephenson's schools, graduating with the class of 1950. After graduating she move to Chicago to live with an Aunt and began working on the extra board as a teletype operator for the Santa Fe Railroad. She took a temporary position in Kansas City for a few months, which during that time she met her future husband Walter Noll who also worked for the Santa Fe. She later took a permanent position in Kansas City, and they were married September 27, 1952. They made their home in Overland Park; she later stopped working in the early to mid-60's to become a full time homemaker. In 1968 the family moved to a farm south of Beagle which remains their current home. Throughout the 70's she worked at the sewing factory in Parker and later for King Radio in Paola. She was a member of the St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church. Gloria was a quiet woman, very Godly and caring mother, she took great pride in her family. She enjoyed family gatherings, reading, taking trips up north where she grew up, watching old westerns with her husband till the wee hours of the morning, and enjoyed having her railroad pension. She was preceded in death by three brothers Raymond, Merlin, and Douglas; a son Charles in 1993; a granddaughter Ashleigh Jefferson in 2009; a daughter Patricia Noll in 2011; and a son Walter Jr. in 2013. She is survived by her husband Walter of the home; daughter Lillian Noll of Paola; sons Paul (Kelli) of Paola, Wayne (Becky) of Springhill, and Steven (Tammie) of Osawatomie; brother Donald Machalk of Stephenson, MI; sister Phyllis Kosakowski of Colon, MI; 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
