Glenna Virginia "Ginny" Seely, age 78, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Grand Wood Sunrise Assisted Living. She was born June 16, 1930 in Joplin, MO., the daughter of Wm. Harry & Florence Pearl Deems. She spent her childhood in Pittsburg, KS. with 2 sisters and lots of cousins. Her father worked for the Kansas City Southern Railroad and her mother fed the workers up and down the rails, which instilled a lifelong love of anything to do with trains, especially KCS and all train stations. In 1947 she married Kenneth E. Seely, of McCune, KS. and they moved north to the Kansas City area. After several years, the two of them began to grow by adding 4 boys and they moved to Louisburg, Ks. in 1966 to raise their family "in the country." She and Ken were members of the First Christian Church of Louisburg where their family has shared their baptisms, marriages and deaths. She was a den mother for Pack 3101 Cub Scouts, supporter of Middlecreek Riding and Roping Club, LHS Booster Club, follower of Louisburg football, wrestling, motor cross racing, and various other activities the boys would join in. Ginny was a KC Chiefs season ticket holder for years and shared in the good years of Chiefs" winning seasons. They had a summer trailer at Grand Lake o" the Cherokees in Oklahoma during their working years, and summers were spent entertaining and boating with friends & family. She & Ken took dancing lessons with friends and after that were seen at receptions and clubs "cutting the rug." She worked at Deluxe Checks where she retired in 1985, and her & Ken relocated full time to Grand Lake o" the Cherokees in Grove, OK. They enjoyed motorcycle riding and took several trips across the country on their bike to visit different train stations. Traveling took them to Germany to visit a son in the Army several times. Ginny was an avid reader and ragtagged many a stack of books from the library. She would read while Ken fished for hours. Later they enjoyed Cruise Night with their "89 Mustang convertible once a month in Grove. They were able to stay in their home till last fall when Alzheimers finally took its toll and failing health required more care. They moved to GrandWood Sunrise Assisted Living facility where she received the utmost loving care until she lost her battle and passed away gently with her husband at her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister Wanda June Hodson and her youngest son, Kyle Duane in 2002. Survivors include her beloved husband of 62 years, 3 sons, Bradley Seely & wife Debra; Mark Seely & wife Sue, of Louisburg, Ks. and Kirt Seely & wife Tina, Mainesville, Ohio; 1 sister, Laveta Cleveland, Parkville, Mo.; 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Wednesday., April 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church, Louisburg, KS. with the visitation being from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in the Louisburg Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Alzheimers Association. Louisburg First Christian Church 602 N.
