Glenn Hook, 77, Ottawa, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at his home. The funeral will be 6 p.m. Thursday at Dengel & Son Mortuary. He was born May 2, 1930, to Charles and Susan (Boggs) Hook in Morehead, Ky. He graduated from Morehead High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from Aug. 22, 1947, to Aug. 21, 1951, serving during the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Ribbon and a Presidential Unit Citation. He married Betty Joann Nittler Feb. 19, 1958, in Kansas City, Mo. She died June 1, 1987. He was a shipping dock worker from 1969 to 1992 for Consolidated Freightways in Kansas City, Mo. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 5901, Ottawa. Survivors include three sons, Robert Hook, Tulsa, Okla., Charles Hook, Denver, and Greg Hook, Houston; three brothers, Hayward Hook and his wife June, Morehead, John Hook, Morehead, and Edward Hook and his wife Coral, Bellingham, Wash.; a sister, Edna Hardman, Dayton, Ohio; two granddaughters, Jennifer Glenn and Miranda Hook, both of Denver. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bert Hook. Visitors may pay their respects from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will meet visitors after the service Thursday. Burial will be at the Peoria Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Midland Hospice in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067.
