November 24, 1928 — June 3, 2009

Glenn D. Hendrickson, age 80, of Paola, KS, died on June 3, 2009, at Kansas City Hospice House. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Monday, June 8, at Penwell-Gabel Paola Chapel, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS 66071. Burial will follow in the Paola Cemetery. Visitation will be the evening of Sunday, June 7, from 6 to 8:00PM at the funeral home. Glenn was born on November 24, 1928, in Cleveland, MO, to Lester and Opal Bernice Noyes Hendrickson. He attended four different high schools in Cleveland, MO; Louisburg, KS; Wellsville, KS; and Gardner, KS, and graduated from Gardner High School in 1946. As a young man, he helped his father with dairy and crop farming. Glenn served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was discharged in 1952. He returned to dairy farming with his parents. Between 1953 and 1955, he worked part-time for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline. In 1955, Glenn worked for builder, Jr. Manchester. On March 2, 1956, he was united in marriage to Georgia L. Stiles in Paola. Glenn worked for 3 " years for Pacific Northwest Pipeline in Washington. He returned to Paola to crop and dairy farm. He drove for the Ryder Bus Company. He also worked as a janitor and truck driver for the food service at USD 368. Glenn was a member of Mid-America Dairymen and a life-time member of the American Legion Post 156 Paola. He will be greatly missed by his family. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and a great-granddaughter. Survivors include his wife, Georgia, of the home, and five children, Ross Hendrickson, Rose Peckman, Randal Hendrickson, Rhea Stribling, and Rex Hendrickson. He also leaves behind two sisters, Helen Smith of Meade, KS, and Lois Edwards of Erie, KS; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
