Glenn Edward Lancaster was born October 16, 1916, at Imes, Kansas. He was the son of Elmer Henry and Bertha Rebecca (Mason) Lancaster. A lifelong resident, Glenn made his home in Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas, until his death Tuesday, October 12, 2004, at the age of eighty-seven years. Glenn graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1934 and attended Ottawa Business College. He was self-employed as a dairy farmer twenty-four years, retiring in 1978. He was in the dairy retail business for nineteen years, from 1932 until 1951. From 1987 to 1997, Glenn was resident manager of Park Place Apartments in Ottawa. Glenn was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ottawa over seventy years; past member of Odd Fellows; Ottawa Lodge #18, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons; Past Grand and Past Deputy President of Kansas, receiving a fifty-year pin from the Masonic Lodge in 1996; former secretary of Ottawa Lodge #803, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks; past member of Dairy Herd Improvement Association; and, past member of the Co-op Board. On April 24, 1938, Glenn was united in marriage with Ruth Frances Hougland at Ottawa. She survives of their home. He is also survived by two sons, James E. Lancaster and his wife, Virginia, of Ottawa, John D. Lancaster and his wife, Ellen, of Redfield, Kansas; brother, Earl Mason Lancaster of Sacramento, California; two grandsons, Tim Lancaster of Overland Park, Kansas, Trent Lancaster of Ottawa; two granddaughters, Kristen Schudel of Columbia, Missouri, Carissa Wissman of Sedalia, Missouri; two great-grandsons, Tate Lancaster, Cooper Lancaster; and, three great-granddaughters, Madison Lancaster, Hope Lancaster, Emma Schudel. He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Thomas Earl Lancaster. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 15, 2004. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Roger Noah. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Lancaster at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 p.m. Thursday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 6:30 to 7:30 Thursday evening.
