Glen A. Post age 77 of Osawatomie, KS. passed away at the Life Care Center on Dec. 9th. Funeral Service will be Mon. Dec. 15th at 1:30PMat the Penwell-Gabel Paola Chapel, visitation Sun., 4 to 6:00PM, burial Lane Cemetery, Lane KS, memorials to the American Heart Assc. To leave condolences for the family go to Penwell-Gabel.com Glen was born May 13, 1931 in Mound City Kansas to Jack and Iva Camp Post. He grew up in the Mapelton Kansas area and attended Fulton High School, where he played basketball as a youth. Glen entered the United States Army in 1951 and was discharged as a Staff Sergent in 1954 after serving in the Korea War with the anti aircraft unit. Glen was united in marriage to Dolores Williamson in Osawatomie, Kansas, on Nov. 20, 1956. After their marriage, they made their home in Osawatomie. During this time he worked at a gas station in Lane that was owned by George Wingert of Ottawa, who was in the state legislature. This is how Glen became so interested in politics. Glen then worked for the Osawatomie State Hospital as an aid on the floor for over 30 years, and later in the Security and Fire department from 1955 until retiring in 1993. He was the Mayor of Lane, Kansas, for many years, Lane Fire Chief, lifetime member of the Lane VFW, Central Height"s School Board Member for 10 years, was on the Lane Fair Board, and was a member of the Lane Methodist Church. He was a very people person, never knowing a stranger, always ready to visit with anyone, and always ready to help anyone in need. He loved talking politics, and had very passionate political opinions. Glen enjoyed taking trips with his wife during the summer months, working on cars, visiting with family and friends, and watching television. Glen was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors are his wife Dolores, of the home, son, Timothy Post of Kansas City, MO., daughter, Michelle Post of Osawatomie, twin sons, Darrell of Paola and Dennis Post of Osawatomie, and son Kris Post of Osawatomie, one grandson Justin and one brother Howard Post of Maplelton Kansas.
