Glen E. Montgomery, 72, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Olathe Medical Center. Family will meet with friends from 5:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M., Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Belton Cemetery, Belton, Missouri. Glen was born Wednesday, January 26, 1944, in Lebanon, Missouri, the son of Charlie and Genieva (Barnes) Montgomery. He was raised by his aunt and uncle, Jack and Blanche (Montgomery) Honeycutt. He lived in Kansas City, Missouri, for twenty-five years moving to Ottawa, where he lived for forty-eight years. He attended schools in Kansas City, Missouri and Ottawa High School. He later attended truck driving school. Glen served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged, July 1961. He was employed as a janitor in different hospitals in Kansas City, Missouri. Survivors include his brother, Clarence Montgomery and wife Sue of Springfield, Missouri; cousins, Mary Jo (Honeycutt) Hildebrandt of Ottawa, and Daniel Honeycutt of Smithville, Missouri; and many other distant cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Genieva Montgomery; the aunt and uncle who raised him, Jack and Blanche (Montgomery) Honeycutt; and cousin, Robert and Thelma Honeycutt. Glen loved watching and reading westerns, working with electronics, telling jokes, enjoying movies, listening to country music, and driving his jeep. Above all, Glen cherished his friendships.
