Glen E. Crowley, 93, of Williamsburg, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Ransom Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Family will meet with friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 8, 2015, at the mortuary. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery, Williamsburg, Kansas. Glen was born Sunday, March 26, 1922, in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of Joseph Oren and Dora Ethel (Drum) Crowley. At age 1 Glen moved to the farm SW of Williamsburg. He attended school at Williamsburg and graduated in 1940. Glen served in the United States Army via draft in October 1942. He had OCS and Basic Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in Field Artillery in May 1943. He served in Germany and Czechoslovakia and upon completion of active duty remained in the Army Reserve for 12 years when he was honorably discharged July 27, 1961. Glen married Dorothy Phares August 9, 1952 in Harrisonville, Missouri. They were married 49 years before her passing on June 8, 2001. He was a 4-H club leader and helped with the Franklin County Fair. He also served on the county Agricultural Soil Conservation Committee, Rural Water District #4, and was the Mt. Hope Cemetery Sexton for many years. Glen farmed many years and worked in heavy construction for 18 years, before retiring in 1988. Survivors include two daughters, Julie Lowrance and Mary Mosher of Ottawa; two sons, Jodie Crowley and wife Shae of Williamsburg, and Marty Crowley also of Williamsburg; six grandchildren, Tara (Crowley) Dold and husband Greg of Emporia, Jennifer (Lowrance) Hett and husband Tony of Lincolnville, Kansas, Chris Crowley and wife Christi of Williamsburg, Michael Roecker and wife Trinidy of Houston, Texas, Shannon Crowley of Williamsburg, and Patrick Lowrance and wife Amanda of Andover, Kansas; seventeen great grandchildren, Delaney, Call, Kamryn, and Quinn Dold, Emily and Michael Silhan, Chance, Cache, Cayla Crowley, Peyton, Chloe, Ella, and Piper Roecker, Cohen Crowley, and Hailey, Cora, and Daxson Lowrance; and nephews, Gene Brown and Barry Brown and wife Nancy. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, Louis Crowley; and two sisters, Edna Gier and Myrtle Brown.
