Gladys V. Paul - Kiefer

Gladys V. Paul-Kiefer, age 86, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Monday, April 5, 2010, at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa, Kansas. She was born on Wednesday, April 2, 1924, in Rantoul, Kansas. She was the daughter of Cletus Jarome and Sallie M. (Haughn) Shenk. She was a lifelong resident of Ottawa in Franklin County, Kansas. Gladys graduated from Rantoul High School with the class of 1941. She was employed as a dialer technician for Risk Management Alternative (RMA) in Ottawa, retiring June 1, 1995. She had also worked for Mode O’Day and Parmalee Industries, both of Ottawa, Hercules Sunflower Ammunition Plant of De Soto and Kresge of Lawrence. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and Aerie Lodge #2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, both of Ottawa. On January 1, 1946, Gladys was united in marriage with Gene M. Paul in Ottawa. They were later divorced. On June 27, 1986, Gladys was united in marriage with Jerry Kiefer in Ottawa. They were later divorced. She is survived by her: Daughter-Barb Kelley-Downey and her husband, Roger, of Wellsville, Kansas; Grandson-Bryan Henery Kelley of Huntsville, Texas; Many nieces, nephews, great and grand. She is preceded in death by her: Father-Cletus Jarome Shenk; Mother-Sallie M. (Haughn) Shenk; Daughter-Virginia Henderson in 1998; Brother-Jack Shenk; Brother-Bill Shenk; Brother-John Shenk; Sister-Eunice Strickland; Sister-Nina Fisher. SERVICES: Funeral Services will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Ottawa at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2010. IN STATE: Mrs. Kiefer will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, where the family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 Thursday evening.
