Gladys J. Barnhart-Anderson, 75, of Ottawa, Kansas passed away Thursday, April 16, 2020 at her home with family by her side. A private family graveside will be held at Sutton Cemetery, west of Baldwin Junction, Douglas County. Gladys was born March 4, 1945 in Ottawa, the daughter of Jesse and Frances (Davies) Gregg. She was a near lifelong Ottawa resident, living 14 years in Garnett, Kansas and returning in 2004 to Ottawa. On April 2, 1970, Gladys was united in marriage to Larry T. Barnhart at Ottawa. He preceded her in death on September 9, 1985. Gladys and Dale Anderson were married in December 1989 at Garnett. He preceded her in death in December 2003. Gladys was employed as a seamstress with Mode O Day from 1966 to 1982 and H.D. Lee from 1983 to 1988. She was a production worker with Allied Signal, Suntron in Ottawa, Lawrence and Olathe from 1989 until her retirement in 2006. She was a former member of the First Christian Church. Gladys enjoyed sewing and was very meticulous doing yardwork and remodeling. She loved her family and always looked forward to taking care of her grandchildren, attending all their events. Holidays and family gatherings were a cherished time. Gladys was preceded in death by two husbands; parents, Jesse and Frances Gregg; son, Michael Barnhart; sister, Juanita Eneihen; infant sister, Shirley Gregg; and brother, Lee Gregg. Survivors include two children, Linda Griffin and husband Ted of Ottawa, and Rod Barnhart and wife RaJeanna also of Ottawa; brother, William “Bill” Gregg and wife Janice of Ottawa; five grandchildren, Larry Griffin and wife Debra of Townsville, Australia, Jessica Barnhart and Tyler Weiderholt of Williamsburg, Lynze Barnhart of Ottawa, Robert Griffin of Ottawa, and Ted H. Griffin and wife Kyann also of Ottawa; and eight great grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions to Good Shepherd Hospice c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
