Gilbert L. Puckett

Gilbert L. Puckett, 73, of Somerset, Kansas passed away June 19, 2013 at his home. Gilbert was born October 7, 1939 in Buffalo, Kansas to Harold and Doris Wooten Puckett. He grew up and attended school in Iola, Kansas. He proudly served in the U.S. Marines from 1957 to 1961. He moved to Paola, Kansas and worked at Taylor Forge until his health required him to retire. He was married on July 23, 1971 to Martha Weathers. Gilbert and Martha lived in Somerset, Kansas for thirty seven years and greatly appreciated their kind neighbors. They enjoyed traveling, going out to dinner and spending time with their dogs. Gilbert"s hobbies included fishing, "chili cook-offs", gardening, and watching football. Being the oldest of eleven siblings, Gilbert always encouraged and enjoyed family reunions. He was preceded in death by his wife of forty one years, Martha on September 2, 2012, a brother, Jerry, and a sister, Nellie Bancroft. Survivors include his eight siblings, Lila Benson, Maynard, AR; Bill Puckett, Independence, MO; Larry Puckett, Alliance, NE; Mike Puckett, Lee"s Summit, MO; Judy Jones, Leroy, KS; Ed Puckett, Madison, KS; Dorris Francis, Leroy, KS; Philip Puckett, Lamont,KS and many nieces and nephews.
