Gerald White

Gerald "Jerry" F. White, age 78, of Paola, Kansas passed away January 20, 2014 at Life Care Center in Osawatomie, Kansas. Jerry was born on January 26, 1935 in Kansas City, Missouri to Lloyd and Rethas Bratcher White. He graduated from Spring Hill High School in 1953. In October of 1954 Jerry enlisted in the United States Air Force and served until receiving his honorable discharge in January of 1958. Jerry was united in marriage to Mary Lou Knight on April 8, 1961 in Hillsdale, Kansas. They lived in Paola and joined the family Auto Parts Store in Olathe which was started in 1963 before being sold in 1987. Jerry worked for the Olathe School District, and then the Spring Hill School District in the custodial departments before retiring in 2003. He enjoyed delivering meals on wheels and going to the senior citizen"s center for the fellowship. His other passions were playing cards, working puzzles and his pet pug Molly. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Lou, and daughter Debbie Olson. He is survived by his brother Dale White of Lowry City, Missouri, son-in-law Carl Olson, of Paola, KS , two grandchildren, Richard Olson, of Paola, KS and Jonathan Olson, of Olathe, Kansas, and his special friend Helen Suits. Jerry will be dearly missed by family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the Butterflies are Free Hospice Program of Life Care Center of Osawatomie.
